The figures produced by the Collection Valuation tool are estimates only. They are not formal valuations, guaranteed selling prices or offers to purchase.

1. Purpose of the valuation tool

The feature provides estimated values for captive tarantulas using information that may include current UK retail prices, historical market data, The Spoodoire pricing database, species availability, lifestage, confirmed sex where known, quantity, current demand and estimated resale potential.

The results are provided for general information only.

2. No guarantee of value

The values generated by the tool are estimates. They are not a professional valuation, legally recognised appraisal, guaranteed selling price, financial or investment advice, a promise that a specimen can be sold for the amount shown, or an offer by The Spoodoire to purchase any specimen or collection.

Actual selling prices and offers may differ significantly from the figures displayed.

3. Retail value

Retail Value represents an estimate of what a specimen might currently be advertised or sold for by a specialist UK retailer. It is not the amount a private owner should expect to receive when selling the specimen.

Retail prices reflect costs and responsibilities including stock acquisition, housing and husbandry, feeding and heating, staff time, premises and utilities, insurance, payment fees, tax, marketing, stock losses, customer support, consumer rights and business obligations.

4. Private sale estimate

The Private Sale estimate represents an approximate amount that might be achieved through a direct sale between private keepers. The actual sale price depends on demand, condition, size, lifestage, confirmed sex, age, provenance, location, availability, listing accuracy and buyer interest.

Private sales frequently achieve less than current specialist retail prices.

5. Retailer or reseller estimate

This estimate represents an approximate amount a commercial buyer might be able to pay while retaining enough margin to house, care for and eventually resell the animals.

Commercial buyers must account for housing, feeding, heating, staff time, insurance, payment fees, marketing, overheads, stock losses, slow-moving stock, customer support and resale time. This estimate will therefore normally be considerably lower than retail value.

6. Bulk collection estimates

A collection sold as one lot will usually be worth less than the combined amount that might theoretically be achieved by selling every specimen individually.

Bulk values may be affected by duplicate species, large groups of spiderlings, mature males, slow-moving species, unsexed specimens, demand, transportation, housing requirements, resale time and the requirement to take unwanted or less saleable specimens. A bulk estimate is not a guaranteed purchase price.

7. Accuracy of information

The valuation can only be as accurate as the information entered. You are responsible for ensuring species, lifestages, sex, quantities, sizes, condition and provenance information are accurate. Incorrect or incomplete information may produce an inaccurate estimate.

8. Species identification

The Spoodoire cannot verify that a specimen entered into the tool has been correctly identified. The tool may attempt to match previous names, trade names and current accepted taxonomy. Scientific names should be treated as the primary means of identification. Any automated match should be checked before relying on the estimate.

9. Condition of specimens

Unless otherwise stated, the valuation assumes specimens are healthy and saleable. Value may be affected by injury, missing limbs, dehydration, illness, parasites, poor body condition, age, recent moulting, maturity, reproductive status, uncertain identification or inadequate provenance.

An automated tool cannot fully assess health or condition. Specimens unsuitable for resale may have little or no commercial value.

10. Market fluctuations

Prices may rise or fall because of captive breeding, availability, imports and exports, legal changes, seasonal demand, rarity, taxonomy, collector interest, new sellers or sudden increases in stock. Valuations may change without notice.

11. Purchase enquiries

Submitting a collection for review does not mean The Spoodoire has agreed to purchase it. We may decline, request more information or photographs, ask for evidence, inspect specimens, revise the estimate, exclude specimens or withdraw a proposed offer before completion where appropriate.

12. Offers to purchase

Any offer made by The Spoodoire is separate from the automatic valuation. It may differ from the figures shown, be subject to inspection, have an expiry date, apply only to selected specimens, be revised where the collection differs materially, and be subject to delivery or collection arrangements.

No purchase contract exists until the terms of sale have been agreed by both parties. The website’s general Terms & Conditions may also apply where relevant.

13. Equipment valuations

Any enclosure or equipment values are estimates only. Second-hand values depend on condition, cleanliness, age, manufacturer, completeness, damage, demand and suitability for reuse or resale. Livestock and equipment should be valued separately wherever possible.

14. Liability

We make reasonable efforts to provide useful estimates, but The Spoodoire does not accept responsibility for losses arising from reliance on them, including financial loss, missed sales, lost profits, unsuccessful negotiations, lower offers, market changes or decisions based on inaccurate user information.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful under the laws of England and Wales.

15. Intellectual property and acceptable use

The software, pricing models, databases, calculations, page content and associated materials remain the intellectual property of The Spoodoire or their respective rights holders. You may use generated valuations for personal purposes.

Without written permission you must not scrape the tool, make excessive automated requests, reproduce or redistribute it, reverse engineer its commercial logic, sell access, misrepresent output, or access private or administrative pricing information.

16. Privacy

When you save a valuation or submit an enquiry, personal information is handled under our Privacy Policy. It may be used to provide and save the service, review an enquiry, contact you, prevent abuse and improve the service. Personal information will not be sold to third parties.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions. The latest version and update date will be displayed here. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

A final note

We designed this tool to provide a realistic starting point using the best UK market information available to us. Prices change, availability changes and some species move through the hobby at a pace that makes ordinary price lists look positively energetic.

Treat the estimate as useful guidance rather than the final word. A reviewed offer, where one is made, will always be provided separately.
