Arboreal tarantulas

Arboreal tarantulas are adapted for climbing and webbing above ground. They usually need a taller enclosure with cork bark, anchor points and sensible ventilation rather than lots of unused floor space.

• Think height, climbing structure and web anchors.
• Avoid excessive fall risk from bare, tall setups.
• Expect many arboreals to use hides and web tubes.

Terrestrial and fossorial tarantulas

Terrestrial species spend most of their time on or near the ground. Fossorial species are burrowers and often want deeper substrate. Both generally benefit from stable floor space, hides and substrate depth suited to the species.
